Girls & Boys XC have strong showing at Nike Twilight

Saturday at the Niketown Twilight Meet, the MV boys took 2nd place from 87 teams in the combined open races. There was also a Race of Champions with another 44 teams that MV was not in for the boys, but the girls were. Finishing first for the MV harriers was Colin Strachman who won the first open race in 16:13 and was 10th overall when combined with the 2nd open race. Next up for MV was Xaiden Jenson in 16:50th for 11 in his race, right behind was Cooper Hunziker in 16:51 for 12th and Austin Baugh 16:52 for 13th. Rounding out the scoring Brayden Strantz 16:58 in 17th, and Caden Cassada (13:36.8) in 25th. The race featured over 450 runners and was combined with another 500 runners. Mt. Prospect, Ill was first, MV 2nd and Ft. Wayne Carroll 3rd ...................87th Maybe more impressive the JV pulled out a 3rd place finish behind Rockbridge (MO), Noblesville then MV, Carmel 4th, Ft. Wayne Carroll 5th. The leading runner for MV was Isiaiah Njau in 7th for MV in 17:29. In the girls race Hannah Hauser broke her old record by 1 second in the champions race in 18:50 for 23rd. Teammate McKenna Laffey was 19:34 for 79th, Emma Gale 19:55 for 107th. Chesnie Willis (16:12.4), Kenydi Russell (16:14.7), and Julie Iserloth (16:22.3) rounded out the scoring for MV. The team was 15th overall and ahead of powerhouse Columbus North. Equally impressive the JV girls took 5th overall and led by Allie Jenson in 21:30 in 4th. The boys varsity race had a total of 484 runners, while the girls had a 438, made up of student-athletes representing schools from across the midwest.
