Game Recap

“A” team Vs Chapel Hill
In Game 1 of the Warrior Invitational, the Marauders “A” team faced an extremely athletic & strong Chapel Hill team in the first round of the Warrior Invitational.

The Marauders had trouble getting the offense going, but with great defense was able to keep Chapel Hill within range.

In a spirited 4th quarter, down 13-17, Coach Williams inserted a bigger lineup to defend & rebound, when every single possession mattered. The lineup paid off as MV put together a huge run, not only defending & rebounding tenaciously, but outscoring the Giants 22-10 in the 4th quarter, winning 35-27 & avenging last year’s invitational loss.

The Marauders were lead by Connor Cox with 12 points & 3 blocks. AJ Swingle was the spark plug off the bench with 6 points & 8 rebounds. Bryan Heard, Kiryn Dahl, Matt Coons along with Cox all knocked down 3’s in that huge 4th quarter for MV.

“A” team Vs Jennings County – Tourney Championship Game
The Marauders “A” team ground their way into the Warrior Invitational Championship only to face a sharp-shooting Jennings County team. MV controlled the tempo with more physical play & some sharp-shooting of their own, lead by Cam Lusby & Drew Walker, to take a commanding lead into halftime.

In the second half, the Marauders did not let up by attacking with team balance on both ends of the floor. Despite some late 30-foot bombs by the Jennings County guards, MV ran away with the Invitational Championship trophy winning by 20 points (48-28).

The balanced attack was lead by Connor Cox with 9 points, Lusby & Walker each had 8, Bryan Heard had 7, Ben Moss had 6 points & 6 rebounds, Kiryn Dahl finished with 5 pts, 5 rebs, 5 assists, AJ Swingle chipped in 5 pts & 4 rebs, & Matt Coons provided the energy off the bench with ferocious defense.

“B” Team Vs Chapel Hill
The Marauders “B” squad came off the bus ready to attack, as their swarming defense lead to many fast break scoring opportunities. In a game that was never really close, MV never let their foot off of the pedal, cruising into the Warrior Invitational “B” Bracket Championship by a score of 46-19.

Dallas Turner lead the Marauders with 12 points, while Chauncey Agbor, fighting a stomach bug, added 10 pts, 12 rebs, & 2 blocks. Aden Cappelletti & Scott Lohman each added 9 pts & 7 rebs.

“B” team Vs Clark Pleasant – Tourney Championship Game
Facing the home team in the Warrior Invitational Championship, MV had to grind it out in the first half, as the Warriors came to claim their territory. The Marauders invaded their space by taking control of the tempo & dominating the boards. Momentum totally went the way of the Marauders by halftime, when Scott Lohman found Dallas Turner streaking down court for a buzzer-beating lay-up.

Turner came out of the half ready to seal the deal for the the Marauders eventual championship, as he nailed two three-pointers & finished with 15 points. Chauncey Agbor put on his hard hat & went to work, as he grabbed 5 rebounds & finished with 14 points. Aden Cappalletti knocked down three three-pointers & scored 11 total points.

The Marauders wrapped up the “B” team championship trophy by winning 46-33.
