Game Recap

Tuesday night, the Hamilton Southeastern Panthers crawled into Fortville to face the Marauders. MV didn’t treat them too royally, as the Marauders’ defensive prowess was too much for HSE to handle. Connor Cox led MV with 4 of the team’s 11 steals. Most of the steals led to Marauder baskets, as MV jumped out to a 19-7 first quarter lead. Cox accounting for 11 first quarter points & Drew Walker with 5.

In the second quarter, the “Bench Mob” came to life as AJ Swingle & Ben Moss took over the court by applying more defensive pressure, grabbing offensive rebounds, & getting to the foul line. The Marauders took a 32-13 lead into the half.

Out of the break, it was much of the same story. Too much defense for HSE to handle. The Marauders aggressively took away any chance for a Panther comeback by countering every single score & then some. Cam Lusby knocked down a big 3, Logan LeRoy had a beautiful floater that tickled the twine, & Moss continued his inside dominance by adding six more points in the quarter.

The fourth quarter showed how deep the Marauders’ bench is, as the coaches “platooned” the lineup bringing in five subs at a time. MV would spread the wealth as they continued to disrupt HSE’s offensive flow. Scott Lohman made his presence known, as he stole a few passes & fouled in the open court, then knocking down three shots from the charity stripe. Aden Cappalletti added 5 points in the fourth, as the Marauders won this contest going away, 62-31.

Connor Cox led MV with 18 points & 7 rebounds, Ben Moss added 10 points & 4 rebounds. The Marauder victory brings their record to 6-1, as they prepare to lasso the Arabians, this evening, in a first-round matchup of the Hoosier Heritage Conference tournament
