Sam McCarty has decided to continue his academic and athletic career at the University of Saint Francis where he will study nursing and play baseball. Sam has been a two-sport athlete during his time at Mt. Vernon, earning varsity letters in tennis (2) and baseball (2 so far). With a career .305 batting average and .392 on base percentage, while only registering 5 strikeouts, Sam has been a reliable force offensively for the Marauders. Sam has taken up residence behind the plate, holding a .978 career fielding percentage, earning him All County and All Hoosier Heritage Conference Honorable Mention in 2018. In addition to baseball Sam found success on the tennis court, earning All Hoosier Heritage Conference honors in 2018 at #1 Doubles, and being named Co-Marauder of the Year in 2017 and 2018.
