A week after completing his senior season at the state finals, Chase Wilkerson has signed his NLI to continue his academic and athletic career at the University of Indianapolis, where he will study nursing and wrestle. Wilkerson was a 4-year varsity letter winner in wrestling at Mt. Vernon earning a school record 143 wins throughout his career. Chase garnered numerous accolades on the mat including the Outstanding Wrestler Award for the Neil Muse Invitational and New Palestine Invitational, 2-time ISWA state placer, NUWAY All-American, 2019 HHC Champion at 126 lbs., as well as a 3-time semi-state qualifier. During his senior season, Wilkerson was the sectional champion, regional champion, and finished 3rd at semi-state in the 126lb. weight class, earning a spot in the IHSAA State Finals. Along with his brother Chris, Chase became the first podium finisher for the Marauders in wrestling since 2001, finishing 7th. Chase helped guide the Marauders to 64 wins over the past three years, including the first Hoosier Heritage Conference title in school history (2019).
