Girls Varsity Track · Girls Track Takes 3rd at Kokomo

  Place Points
Mt. Vernon High School - Fortville 3rd 85

In the 97th Edition of the Kokomo Relays, the Lady Marauders were able to walk away with a 3rd place finish, losing to perennial track powers Noblesville and Carmel. As has become the norm this year, there were some fantastic surprises throughout the day as well as a few struggles.

Perhaps overworked over the last week, the distance crew struggled throughout the meet, but the sprinters/field events picked up the slack in order to secure the points needed for a top 3 finish.

“I thought we had a really good day,” said Coach Coy. “I definitely think I overdid it with the distance girls a bit the last few days. That is totally on me. None of those girls should be upset with their performances. They were just zapped. On the other hand, the sprinters/hurdlers/throwers had a great day! The roles reversed from Tuesday and I’m happy with where we are heading into the meets that truly matter. New Pal and Greenfield are both really tough teams and are both very well coached. We are the underdog going into County on Wednesday, but I wouldn’t go to battle with anyone else. We are excited to see if we can give the Cougars and Dragons a run for their money in this last tune-up before HHC and Sectional.”

MV hosts the County on Wednesday and then the girls HHC championships the following Tuesday.
