Girls Varsity Cross Country · Lady Marauders XC Races to a Win at Randolph Southern Invite

  Place Points
Mt. Vernon High School - Fortville 1st 63

The Lady Marauders entered the Randolph Southern Invite with the highest team rating of the 20 team field on Saturday. They did not disappoint. The depth and grittiness of the girls proved to much for their large and small opponents as they earned a decisive victory over many schools that they will see down the road at the Rushville Regional.

Times were not great on the seemingly fast course, run on the grounds of Randolph Southern High school in Lynn, Indiana. However, Coach Coy did not seem overly concerned.

“We didn’t have a great week of practice. We had some illness and injury issues that we had to deal with this week and that added to the fact that the girls knew this should be an easy victory. With the brutal heat this week we just didn’t have the same focus and drive that I’ve become accustomed to with this group. That being said, we still won by 64 points. We only SCORED 63 points. If this is what we look like on a bad day, I can certainly live with it. We have a lot of great leadership on this team and I am confident that we will right the ship over the course of these next few weeks. Rilee and Kamryn are my two four year seniors and they know the work ethic it will take to succeed in the postseason and our underclassmen are hungry for that success as well. I’m always happy to get a win and I am confident we can go into the Muncie Central Invite on Tuesday and get another one.”

The Ladies are back in action on Tuesday at the Muncie Central Invitational, run at the Muncie Sportsplex. The Boys race starts at 5:30, with the Girls to follow.
