The Lady Marauders faced a tough New Palestine team. During the 1st set Mt. Vernon used a 5-0 run to finish off the set at 25-20. The 2nd set Mt. Vernon looked like they were cruising to a 2nd set victory leading 22-18. Several errors allowed New Palestine come from behind to take the set 25-23. The Lady Marauders bounced back easily taking the 3rd set 25-15 and held a comfortable margin most of the way in the 4th set 25-20.Mt. Vernon improved to 18-4 (5-2 HHC), New Palestine dropped to 23-7 (2-5 HHC)
Senior Claire Ertel finished her final home match in style with 24 kills, 16 digs, and 3 blocks. Olivia Yeley broke the all-time career blocking record with 280 career blocks. Kari Kramer was on hand to pass the torch. Kari was a key part of the 2015 and 2016 back to back 4A Secional Championships. She held the career blocking record with 278 blocks.
Cecilia Bulmahn added 24 kills in the win. Defensively, Macy Lyons posted 6 blocks, Delaney Bowser led the team with 25 digs, Abby Herman with 17, Ertel had 16, Bulmahn with 15, Libby Gee Weiler with 11, and Rylee Ugen with 10. That’s right 6 players reach double digit digs.
The 8th ranked Lady Marauder finish the regular season playing Saturday at Chatard vs the Host Trojans and Pike.
