Mt. Vernon High School - Fortville vs Lawrence North High School
4 1

MV travelled up the road and played its best and most spirited match in defeating Lawrence North 4-1.

MV got on the board with the continued stellar play of #2 dubs, fresh off winning the Richmond invite and GC winning tonight first 6-3,6-4. The team of Shake and Bake are becoming a fantastic team. Owen has embraced and gelled with Dallas quickly and they are becoming that automatic point each night. Us coaches love the fact Dallas came off looking sullen and I asked him why and he said I played like crud. This is the mark of a great tennis mind and a Marauder mentality.

#3 Reece Powell was off next winning a tough match 6-4,6-2 against LN’s #1 JV(#3 Sick). But Reece has been so phenomenal this year. I am proud of his heart, his passion for his team and his willingness to do anything IE: move to 3 singles for the team. He has been our MVP so far and is one of the reasons we are 10-1 and I am proud of him.

#1 dubs Justin Lemke/Jackson Dunlavy got the clinching point 6-4,6-2. This team of 2 seniors are finding their groove. Justin Snoop a Loop and Jackson the beast have fully embraced all we have as coaches haver thrown at them. These 2 are getting better each day and the AH HA moment happened tonight. HUGE heart tonight.

#2 Chris Hays won in a fantastic match of athleticism, skill, and ultimately it came down to heart. Chris is a one of a kind player and we are lucky to have him. He lost the 1st set 4-6 and he will say he gave it away. He won the 2nd set 6-0 like a Boss and won the 3rd set super breaker 10-5 to give MV the 4-1 win.

#1s Haiden Rose played a top player and really fought his butt off. This is his junior year and a massive growing year. We are on him all the time. We see his potential and we tell him he has all the skills to be an all-state player. It will happen because of his home, his will to win, and his desire to be the best. Keep an eye on Haiden coming up.

MV JV won 7-0 DOMINATION with winners being Dec Mast, Luc Griego/Log Leroy Ev Barr/And Jones, Jo Moore/Seb Ocampo Grif Garwood/Willy T. Nelson and B. Barr/Tyler Sumner

NO REST…gonna go to Shelbyville tomorrow with same mentality…make every other court our home.

“What a win…LN #10 is D6 which is toughest in state, haven’t beat them in 7 years. 10-1 only the tip of iceberg for this team. Huge credit to Coach Brandes and McMullen, they are the reason we are 10-1. I am so grateful for this group, our journey and where this road is going to take us. LETS GO…..GRIT, Greatness Resides in Teammates”
