In the flighted blind tourney, MV in the 1st round of varsity saw

#1S Haiden Rose lose to a very solid New Pal #1
#2S Chris Hays fight his way to victory against Greenfield Central
#3S Reece Powell controlled his match and won vs Eastern Hancock
#1d Justin Lemke/Jackson Dunlavy Lost to Greenfield Central
#2d Dallas Turner/Owen Koon won vs Eastern Hancock

*This moved MV with 3 spots in the finals and 2 in the consolation round. MV got 9 points in the 1st round. The coaches did some match and determined MV could control its own destiny by winning all the 2nd round matches.
#1S Haiden Rose earned 2 points quickly against the 1s from GC to get 3rd place
#1D Justin Lemke/Jackson Dunlavy won next gaining 2 more points for MV and 3rd place

It all came down the the 3 MV players needing to pull out victories and bring the title back to MV after New Pal stranglehold on it for 9 year(seemed like 734 years to MV coach)
#2 singles Chris Hays struggled early but won 7-5,6-2 to claim the 1st championship for MV and after his 2nd place finish last year, it was good to see Chris gut it out on a day he didn’t have his best stuff.
#2d Dallas Turner/Owen Koon showed their partnership is solid gold for MV by winning a title for the 2nd week in a row vs #1s from GC and his partner in straight sets 6-3,7-5 with some solid coaching from Coach McMullen on both Chris and #2 dubs.

The last match and the clincher for MV was Reece Powell at #3 vs a newcomer for GC..Reece was lost in the 1st set and not playing winning tennis losing 2-6 but after a long talk from Coach Brandes and a chain in game plan Reece won the 2nd set 6-2 and then fought hard to win 6-3 in the final and bring the hardware back to MV.

“What a roller coaster of day. We went from totally Geek to totally Sheik in about 45 minutes(thanks Mrs. Greulich and Can’t Buy Me Love movie in health). So proud of our heart, our ability to follow Jeff and Grahams instructions and the total support of both teams for each other. It shows what a team can do when the give everything they have for one another. Let’s keep the MV train moving and this was a great showing of their hard work since last year. Feels dang good.”

MV JV had a wonderful day and showed some future stars with Titles from #1s Declan Mast, #1d Lucas Griego and Logan Leroy, and #2 dubs Andrew Jones and Evan Barr. 2nd place finishes from #2s Joe Bowsher and #3 Joe Moore. Brock Barr played too and filled in for EH team at 1 singles to make a team and played great.

MV is off until WED and THURS this week.

MV is 11-1 and County champs for the 1st time in SCHOOL HISTORY.
