Accessibility Statement
Last updated: April 27, 2026
Mt. Vernon High School is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying the relevant accessibility standards.
Conformance status
Our website should be in compliance with https://www.ada.gov/topics/title-ii/ and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, which require equal access to electronic information for people with disabilities. To meet these requirements, we follow the https://www.w3.org/TR/WCAG21/ Level A and AA guidelines, which explain how to make web content more accessible for people with disabilities and more user-friendly for everyone.
We review the site regularly to maintain conformance with these guidelines.
Measures we take
- Semantic HTML and ARIA where appropriate.
- Keyboard navigation support, including a skip-to-content link.
- Sufficient color contrast and visible focus indicators.
- Alternative text for meaningful images.
- Responsive layouts that work across devices and zoom levels.
Ongoing effort
Accessibility is an ongoing process, and we continue to refine the site over time. Because the site reflects our school's brand and colors, certain visual elements may occasionally affect color contrast. We address any such issues as we become aware of them or they are surfaced in our audits, and welcome feedback that helps us improve.
Feedback and contact
If you encounter an accessibility barrier on this site, or have suggestions for how we can improve, please let us know. We aim to respond within 5 business days.
